The classic depiction of Disney's Mickey Mouse, famously showcased in the 1928 cartoon "Steamboat Willie," is now available for everyone to enjoy, and it's causing quite a stir online. This particular version of Mickey has become the most sought-after nonfungible token (NFT) on the OpenSea platform. Why? Because its copyright has expired, meaning it's been a hundred years since Mickey first made his debut. Under U.S. law, copyrights usually last for 95 years, so Mickey's original appearance is now free for everyone to admire.
As a result, three NFT collections inspired by this beloved Mickey Mouse have gained immense popularity on OpenSea. Not far behind are two other collections named "Steamboat Willie" and "Steamboat Willie’s Riverboat," which have secured the second and third positions on OpenSea’s list of trending items in the past 24 hours.
